Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

BeYou.LoveYou. is a youth venture that was created to tackle body image issues that are facing young women and men today. Psychologists and other researchers have noted that forty percent of women and about twenty percent of men are unhappy with their bodies and would consider cosmetic surgery. This can lead to various problems such as eating disorders, self harm and depression. Donating to this project will not only help inform people of this issue, but it will also help create environments where people can feel safe sharing their stories and building a strong community together. We should all learn to love who we are and be confident in our own skin. Please help me make this project idea a reality.
Students will develop research, presentation, and campaign advertisment skills that will help them in college and their future careers. Conducting academic research to compile scholarly work on the topic of depression and body image will inform students about the current issue impacting our society today.
In Their Own Words
BeYou.LoveYou. is a youth venture that aims to build confidence in young people. This goal will support young people with their self-estem. It will break down media stereotypes and build a more positive image for youth and the community.
I have witnessed firsthand how feminine and masculine images are stereotypes that can damage the human psyche. These stereotypes have set unrealistic standards for our youth. Today, young men and women spend more time focusing on how they look rather than focusing on school, family, work and relationships. Due to these unrealistic aesthetic standards our youth face body image disturbance, weight anxiety, and can lead to self harm.
This project will help students and the community realize how media can be used to shed light on realistic body images that have a positive impact on people's mental health.
