Fourth graders are the best! They are full of energy, questions, and laughter. They also love to learn and be around their peers.
Over seventy-eight percent of my students are living in poverty.
Many of my students come from single-parent homes and are from culturally diverse backgrounds. Throughout my classroom, many students speak a different language at home. However, one thing they all have in common--they are eager to learn and they love coming to school. School is a safe, fun, active, and engaging place to learn. We truly try to make the most of each day of learning.
This area rug will be large enough to fit my entire class. My fourth grade students deserve to have personal space while learning on the carpet and this rug will allow them to each have their own square to call their own. As their bodies grow--they need more space. When they feel comfortable on the carpet, they are able to engage and participate in more learning. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and safe at school.
Also--Not only will the fun colors and patterns serve us during math this year as we count patterns--it will also help us practice finding the area and perimeter of rectangles.
I can envision already all the fun discussions we can have both on and ABOUT this rug.
