My Students

When I think of my theatre students, I think of the meaning behind the word tenacity.
My students do not let society or stereotypes about our community determine their goals and dreams. They pour their heart and soul into their passions, and finding the path will grant them the most joy and success. When I think of my theatre students I can’t help but smile because not only do they look out for each other, they always check in to make sure I am doing well. This level of emotional intelligence pushes me to be a better teacher.
The only thing that holds us in a stagnant place is the lack of accessibility to stage equipment that schools in more affluent neighborhoods might have access to, but that being said, even without the latest stage technology my theatre students deliver solid performances.
My Project
I am constantly asking my theatre students to be seen, be heard, and be brave in terms of their acting and life in general. My students take this advice to heart and give their all to their performances. That being said, after a year of not coming to class in person, my students are both literally and metaphorically fighting to be heard.
Be Seen
To provide my theatre students with the ultimate performance experience, they deserve to use the most current technology. The spotlights will be used to light my students on stage in a professional manner. We currently do not have spotlights and having them will add to the realism of both the acting experience and audience viewing.
Be Heard
The microphones will be used to amplify their voices to the point where they are heard throughout our theatre. To project their voices, an actor's ultimate tool, they need to not strain their voices, which having microphones will help.
Be Brave
If you choose to sponsor our project, you will help my students get closer to an experience every student should have a chance to participate in, no matter where their school is located. The experience of performing with technology enhances their natural talent. You will also provide students in technical theatre the opportunity to work with equipment that you would find at any theatre in Las Vegas.
