This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come into the classroom every day, carrying their hardships from home and life, yet they have smiles on their faces and are ready to learn! They are from low-income areas and many of them have jobs and watch their siblings for their hard-working parents. What an inspiration they are!
I have a wonderful rapport with my students and they deserve the chance for a fair and equitable education.
The least I can do is have a safe space for them to come every day to learn, so that they may educate themselves and follow a path to a better life. My goal is to support them in their endeavors and to make sure that they have what they need to be successful in their education.
Although they may not have all the materials at home to be successful at life, I want to make sure that they have the tools at school to overcome their burdens and move on to be successful in a career/college. They deserve to have the best education possible.
My Project
These materials will go to many projects and all my students! I have both Biology and AP Environmental Science students, and we engage in many labs in person. My students learn best when they can be hands on, but in this environmental climate, we need to be as safe as possible! I am asking for a class set of safety goggles and aprons in order for all of my students to learn how to properly and safely use science equipment and chemicals. Without these materials, we cannot complete the labs! These materials will be used many times throughout the year.
