This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Many kids struggle with behavior in school. That is where positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) comes in. PBIS is a proactive approach schools use to improve school safety and promote positive behavior.
Every other Friday we open the PBIS Store where students can spend their bucks on selected incentives.
The items that we have in our cart are small prizes, puzzles, and toys that the students can use their hawk bucks or positive bucks to buy. The cart also includes mini totes bags that they can shop with. As the year goes on each student would be able to make a tie dye shirt so we have included t-shirts and dye.
These items will help furnish the store with things that the students are interested in and things they can buy with their behavior-earned bucks. Students are recognized whenever they are exhibiting positive behaviors by being given a PBIS ticket. Students will be able to choose from a variety of items based on the number of stars they've earned.
