My Students

As a Technology teacher, I have the pleasure of teaching students in grades 5th through 8th! My district is located in a diverse, rural community. Because we are an area of high poverty, we receive Title I funding from the federal government.

Our Technology curriculum focuses on important topics, such as digital citizenship and computer science.

From 5th grade to 8th, my students are especially interested in coding!

My Project

One of the first questions my students ask me is "When are we going to do coding?" Whether it's block coding in 5th grade or learning Python as 8th graders, my students eagerly anticipate the moment when they can practice computer programming. While I strive to make their learning relevant and fun, the one thing we are missing is coding robots!

My students are eager to practice hands-on activities with robots.

By providing them with the opportunity to code Sphero BOLT robots, I will be able to engage my students in new and exciting ways! In doing so, I will also give them the opportunity to partake in more critical thinking and problem solving. Using the Sphero BOLT robots, my students will be able to practice a variety of programming skills, express their creativity, and - most importantly - have fun!
