My Students
Funny, creative, smart, and wiggly! Third graders at my school are looking to switch up boring old classroom chairs. Flexible seating is something that would enhance the classroom environment. With ever-changing school funding, most of our kids receiving free or reduced lunch, and are English Language Learners it is difficult to find extra money for new seating. This project would allow students to do their best work in a comfortable spot around the classroom. Everyone loves a comfortable spot!
My Project
As students have the ability to choose where they are most comfortable sitting they will be more inclined to be focused on their learning. As ELL students they have an extra challenge of learning the language before learning the content. Being in a comfortable seat will decrease some of that pressure. They will have a choice of the new carpet, floor work space, or wobble cushions. Students this year are under extra pressure to perform on state-mandated tests.
Our district has had many financial cuts in the past 10 years and the furniture in our classroom is worn and well used.
This project would allow the students a new and fresh environment for learning.
