My students need opportunities to move authentically so that they can maintain high energy while engaging in reading, writing, and STEM. Our language-rich, Responsive Classroom approach allows students to communicate their needs: They want to move!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have the pleasure of working with energetic, funny, and creative English- and Spanish-learning students from diverse backgrounds. Their communication skills directly benefit from rich dual-language instruction.
Our curious students keep us on our toes with their humor and energy, constantly solving community problems, starting in the classroom.
Our students dazzle us with their big personalities, and we are so excited to provide them with a more stimulating classroom. This year, we have loved providing students with experiential learning opportunities; our field trips are famous!
My Project
At our school, we encourage creativity and embrace students' differences and needs. Across the subjects, we encourage students to choose different materials, strategies, and learning modalities to figure out the best approach for their own academic work. We are excited to extend this choice to students' physical environments and needs. Currently, our students only have the choice to sit on the carpet or at a table. This monotony does not align with our shared vision for creative learning environments.
Flexible seating will provide our students with the comfort and stimulation that acknowledges their physical space while further exercising their mental capabilities.
