This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders are amazing!

They deserve a safe learning environment to experience the moments of understanding, struggle, growth, and fun that take place in our classroom.

These children love to learn. They are kind to those around them and are filled with curiosity.

My Project

My students deserve the best learning environment at school. I do my best to ensure that they have safety, consistency, care, and positivity everyday. There are other supports that can help my student's learning environment as well, such as the flexible seating pads and fidget chair kick bands. These materials will help my students improve their focus and attention while helping with their self regulation and learning too. My students love to move and I give them wiggle breaks throughout our day and incorporate movement into our lessons, but students will still benefit greatly from these tools in our classroom. The light covers will also create a calm and soothing environment by decreasing glare from overhead fluorescent lights.

My students are more engaged in their work when they are given flexibility and choice in their seating.

My students enjoy taking ownership of their learning and figuring out what works best for them. In addition to being flexible, my students are learning how to be organized. The pencil holders, classroom headphones, and magnetic clips are materials that will help my students keep track of their materials and be ready to learn. The plastic water bottles and snacks will also help aid my students in maintaining their focus in class. By having a water bottle full of water each day, my students will be hydrated and healthier. Since COVID 19 students have not used drinking fountains, and it cleaner and more efficient to have students keep personal water bottles at their desks. The snacks will be a fun surprise to students on days when they need an extra boost of energy. My students are always so thankful for the things they receive and I know these things will have a positive impact on their ability to be flexible and be ready to learn at school.
