Help me give my students construction paper, crayons, colored pencils and glue along with a construction paper holder to create colorful art projects and keep the paper organized and accessible.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from low income, high poverty homes.
For most of my students I am the one they see the most in their day, and I am the one fighting for them to succeed.
Most come to kindergarten never having been in school. They come to me not knowing how to hold a pencil or write their name, many don't even know how to tie shoes or zip zippers. By the end of the year they know that and so much more.
In my classroom, 100% of my students get free lunch and breakfast daily. I have students who only get food when they are at school and nothing on weekends. Because of this all of my students also get a snack pack to take home on Fridays so that they will have food over the weekend. I have many students in my class who come to school happy and excited because they know that I love them very much and they can depend on me. My students work hard to overcome their many challenges. They depend on me to help and fight for them. My students are amazing and I want what is best for their future.
My Project
The materials that I am asking for are going to be used by the students to create art projects throughout the school year. The construction paper, crayons, colored pencils, and glue will all be used by the children to make trees at Christmas time, pumpkins in the fall, snowy scenes in the winter and many more beautiful creative things that they come up with. They will be making books and cards along with being able to access the paper whenever they need it from the storage container. The children love to make things with their hands, and the supplies that I am asking for will help them use their imagination to come up with whatever it is that they want to make. There are so few chances in schools these days with the push for so much curriculum that the students need time and supplies to be able to get creative and use their imagination.
