Writing is an activity that can often feel boring and tedious for young learners. As a teacher, I have found the key to motivating students to become better writers is to involve a little excitement!
I am a third grade teacher at an urban school in Indianapolis, Indiana. My school community is comprised of financially struggling families of all races, languages, and religions, and extremely hard-working teachers and staff. As a community we are trying to give all the students attending our school an opportunity for a better future.
With your kind donations, I hope to be able to create a space in my room that entices and inspires my third graders to become authors. Our Writing Workshop station will become home to paper, pencils, organization materials, editing tools, writing resources, journals, and other tools to create writers. Each year 20-30 students will be able to benefit from your generosity.
Not only will this opportunity benefit them academically, but it could also act as an outlet or spark to achieve better things.
