My Students
Fifth grade students are full of life and excitement. They come to class each day with stories to share and questions to be answered. My students are no different. They bring life and energy to the classroom. However, many of our students come from lower socioeconomic situations and some don't have parental support in the home. They are determined students that work hard and give their best.
My students recently wrote our class mission statement.
This is part of what they had to say. "As a Fifth grade class, we strive to show leadership by being a safe place for our peers, being honest, kind and forgiving. Our class will be known for being trustworthy, generous, and for being unique. We will set good examples for the younger students and we will always dream big..." They are truly inspirational.
My Project
State standardized tests are the most dreaded part of education for the students and the teachers. However, we much all do our best to make them successful. As educators we must present the material in a way that each student is able to understand and retain the concepts. Students must be able to grab each concept and learn how to apply it to everyday real-life situations. This helps solidify the material and allow the student to understand how to use it in their lives as they grow and learn. Having attention grabbing materials makes both the teachers and students jobs easier.
