My desire is to create an environment that sparks a curiosity and desire to learn. Small group stations are designed for the students to collaborate and work together on the math concepts taught in class. These stations enhance learning by using hands on manipulatives. The manipulatives add another dimension to the lesson and stimulates kinesthetic learning. With all of the Covid-19 protocols that must be followed, traditional small group stations are not possible this year. Our students are not sharing the hands-on materials. By purchasing additional guided math materials, I would be able to create individual learning activities and math "tool kits" for each student that will capture their attention while still following the guidelines put in place by my district. These additional materials would include individual tools such as place value charts, fraction bars, and flash cards. The use of these additional materials and activities will help create the engaging environment that all teachers strive for.
