My Students
My students are faced with many challenges outside of the classroom and see many things that 5 and 6 year-olds should not be exposed to. My goal is to provide them with a safe and warm environment, where the only challenges they face are academic ones. Teaching in a low poverty/high needs school can present many challenges when it comes to making the classroom as inviting as it should be.
The students I teach come to school not just to learn, but also to receive hugs and attention that they may not get at home.
Some come to school hungry, and the only meals they eat are the breakfast and lunch provided by our school. No matter how much they need, they are open to learning and love to laugh and have fun while working hard. I hope to provide them with a classroom that feels like home, especially to those who don't have a warm and loving environment elsewhere.
My Project
Students learn best when having a variety of materials to explore with. Crayons, markers, pencils, and dry erase products, all allow them to learn penmanship and create letters and words that they didn't know before.
Some of my students have never attend school before and it is my goal to make their experience a fun and enjoyable one.
We all know that when we learn by having fun, we grow more. Let's make this a year of growth for these 5 year olds!
