My Students

Have you ever wanted to be a famous musician giving a concert in a famous hall in London, New York, or L.A? Dare to dream big!

My students represent an extremely diverse cross-section of American demographics.

We have over fifteen languages represented by our students including Albanian, Bosnian, Arabic, Tagalog, and Spanish. We all come together in an urban elementary public school and try our best to do great things. Our school is "Accredited With Distinction," which makes us very proud. We are high on character, ambition, grit, and determination. Unfortunately, we are low on money.

My Project

Our students study reading, writing, singing, and playing music. We have shared a guitar donated by a staff member for ten years. Sadly, the guitar broke when a drastic change in temperature over the weekend caused the face to split and the bridge to pull completely off. Estimates for a repair are higher than the cost of a new instrument. We need a guitar to write songs, learn about chords, and provide an activity that could give every child a lifetime of joy, and even perhaps, spark a career in music. Wouldn't it be cool to hear a famous musician one day say he got his start in music class on a guitar provided by generous people he had never even met?

Replacing our destroyed guitar would allow us to continue sharing the instrument to learn about chords, play in an ensemble, and write our own songs.

We have received donations in the past and I am amazed at the kids' reaction. They just cannot imagine that someone they never even met cares enough about their education to do something wonderful like this. They always make a point of remembering how it feels and vow to "pay it forward" in the future.
