Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

SPHS is one of the top performing schools in Newark, New Jersey. The rigor and competitiveness at this school is extremely high therefore all of my students are motivated, determined, brilliant, and kind. Although the students are extremely diverse both racially and economically, they all have a sense of community and joy for learning. It is a joy to teach students who are eager to learn and want to further their education. Some will be first generation high school graduates with big dreams for their future.

Unfortunately, my classroom does not provide the appropriate conditions to further comply with their thirst for knowledge and desire to learn.

My classroom has no windows and there is poor ventilation and space. My students and I are constantly experiencing high temperatures due to a malfunctioning AC and Heater system. I fear for the well being of my students both because of the spread of Covid-19 and because my students are constantly dehydrated and in discomfort because of the heat.

My Project

Our classroom is in desperate need of these two fans!

The classroom we are in has no windows and due to the poor ventilation my students are forced to learn in uncomfortable temperatures and in fear of contracting Covid-19 faster.

The fans, will help the classroom cool down and allow my students to have a comfortable learning environment. The fans will be positioned towards the back of the class where the temperatures get hotter and and there is less ventilation. Hopefully this will help my students cool down and be able to concentrate on their studies.
