My students need dollhouse furniture that is safe and age appropriate.
Do you ever dream about life and play out events before they happen? Our students are dreamers and enjoy pretend play by using our classroom dollhouse. As teachers we dream of the day we do not have to do a daily check on the dollhouse furniture due to loose nails that have occurred over the years.
Our students are all special needs preschool age students (three to five years old) that attend a program in a public Title 1 elementary school.
Their disabilities range from Autism, down syndrome, ADHD, development delays, vision impaired, speech/language impaired, and more. The students can start as early as their third birthday and can stay with our class each year until the reach the age of Kindergarten. We have themes that we run our curriculum through during the school year; working on pre-readiness skills, independent functioning, self help skills, social skills, language, and so much more!
This project would enhance our student's social skills by allowing them to use all of the dollhouse equipment without limitations. Being able to act out events such as families or super heroes in our doll house allows our students to gain and practice vocabulary and language with their peers, while transitioning into peer play and out of parallel play. You can impact many students daily by donating toward this project.
This project can make a difference in our student's play time by allowing them to have a safe environment to play with their peers.
The items listed in this project has bright colors that would enhance our dollhouse that we currently have in our room. The pet collection would allow our students to build their pet vocabulary into our play time. The space ship play set would be a great addition for all of our students, being something our boys would enjoy playing together.Read More
