This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having books readily available in the classroom is incredibly valuable for students, offering benefits that go beyond just visiting the school library. My students can become great readers if they have the right tools. Books!
Books are right at their fingertips throughout the day.
This immediate access encourages spontaneous reading during free moments, transition times, or when they finish other work. A diverse collection allows students to choose books based on their interests, reading level, and curiosity, which is a huge motivator for reading.
A visible, inviting collection of books signals that reading is a valued and enjoyable part of the classroom community. Seeing classmates reading and having books integrated into daily lessons helps normalize and promote reading as a pleasurable activity, not just an assignment.
