Most of our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds Our students live in a very small, rural community with limited employment opportunities which make it very hard for parents to contribute to the welfare of the school and their child's learning. One hundred percent of our students receive free/reduced lunches.
Despite all of these challenges that face them, our students are very eager to learn, and really enjoy science.
With that said, science can open doors for students in other subjects. Having the proper equipment to enhance critical thinking skills and providing resources to solve real world problems, students can grow personally and academically.
While our school is very supportive, funds are very limited. Any assistance in helping our students care for their lab equipment would be most appreciated.
My Project
The only science and labs supplies we currently have in our classroom are a couple of lower elementary balances, some measuring cups and spoons, and a couple of antiquated microscopes that do not work properly! We could make a Big Bang in science & math if we had the right tools, especially the scales, balances, and microscopes. This equipment will let us explore, investigate, and problem solve to grow our critical thinking skills and our knowledge of the world we live in.
