Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
" A room without Books is like a body without a soul." - Cicero
Library and G&T are teaming up to pilot Battle of the Books with the fourth grade. Already avid readers, BoB will expose them to a wide variety of literature and afford them the opportunity to share information in a game setting.
The students are fourth graders who are already avid readers.
As a librarian, I feel as if I can't get enough books in their hands. With a 2 books limit I frequently get requests to check our 3 or 4 books. Battle of the Books will give students another venue to get books.
My Project
Each of the students will be required to read all ten of the different books and then we will be competing in teams to answer question about the books. Multiple copies of the books are needs in order for students to have access to all of them prior to the competition.
This project will promote a love of reading, meet district literacy goals, instill the values of team work and generate a feeling school spirit as students work together to meet a common goal.
