My students need small reading group sets of eight novels to read.
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? Novels are the best way to get students to want to read. They capture their imaginations and make them love reading. My 26 awesome 4th grade students are in need of great novels to assist in their learning.
I have found that my students go crazy over competing and playing games, which is why I would like them to compete in "ÂThe Battle of the Books." The design of this program is one where students read books and come together to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read.
The competitions are similar in style to the TV series Family Feud or Whiz Kids styles of competition. It is a fun way to encourage students to read and recall the details of books they have read.
We need individual copies of novels to ensure all students have the resources they need to be successful in reading comprehension and also when competing in "The Battle of the Books." Also, it would give them additional practice in comprehension of more stories at our grade level.
With your help, our classroom will be complete in our literacy development!
You can make a difference in the lives of 26 children and their opportunity to read quality literature and have fun competing.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
