The students that participate in Battle of the Books are the kids that absolutely love reading. They are the kids that rather be left alone with a book in class because they are super engrossed in the book that they are reading at the moment. They love getting recommendations and enjoy being around like-minded students to talk books and discuss books that they have read or would like to read.
Having a Battle of the Books club allows me to bring these students together and share our mutual love of reading!
These books comprise the list of titles that students need to read in order to compete in the Battle of the Books competition. The Battle of the Books operates as a club after school that is intended to bring students together that share a passion for reading to come together and enjoy one another's company while discussing what they read. It is a joy as a Reading teacher to spend this time with readers that are as passionate about reading as I am.
The materials I am requesting make having a Battle of the Books group possible.
These resources are not provided for by the district and require teachers who want to have a group participate to find a way to get the materials. Putting books in the hands of these students is a good investment. The books will be enjoyed and the time that we spend together will allow for good relationships to sustain our work for the entire school year.
