This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help our school bring back an afterschool club that our students have been missing! Oregon Battle of the Books is a statewide program to engage and motivate young people to read new and multicultural books.

Help us buy copies of the selected book titles for our most enthusiastic readers, they can't wait to get their hands on these books!

Students will read all the books over the course of the year. We will meet to discuss, create crafts and participate in practice battles related to the books. A battle is when teams of 4 collaborate to answer questions about the book in a quiz bowl style. Students need to be able to read the books simultaneously to be prepared which is why we need multiple copies. Students will work hard through April to know all the answers and compete is regional and statewide battles!

After we use them for the club, the books will be transferred to our school library where and additional 300 students will have access to them!
