My Project

Please help our school purchase 3 copies of each title from the 3rd-5th grade Louisiana Young Reader's Choice Award list for the 2025-2026 school year. Every year, librarians from around the state build a list of 15 books for students throughout Louisiana to vote on their favorite! This is a great way to teach students about voting, civic engagement, and internal reading motivation. Having 3 copies of each title will allow more students to read the books on the list and thereby be able to participate.

Bob Lilly students will not only vote for their favorite LYRC title, but these items will also be used to sponsor our first ever battle of the books!

Battle of the books is a quiz-bowl style tournament where students form teams to divide and conquer the reading list. Then teams work to answer questions about the titles and showcase their comprehension and knowledge of the books.

These items will not only be used for the 2025-2026 LYRC voting and BOTB, but the books will remain in our school library to be circulated even after the school year is over. Three great causes, one project! We can only participate in Battle of the books with your help to fully fund this project. Hopefully one day we could compete against other schools!
