Battle Books for the Win, Part 2

Help me give my students the high interest nonfiction books about animal battles that they can't wait to read!

My Project

The students at my school love to read! Our media center is filled with readers browsing the shelves and chatting with each other about what they're reading. One of the most popular series in our collection is the Who Would Win? series. In these nonfiction books, the author pits two different animals against each other in a hypothetical battle, analyzing how the external features and adaptations of each animal would serve it in the battle. Our readers can't get enough of these books! They love to predict which animal will come out on top. The books in the series are constantly checked out and readers want more. We have most of the books in the series, so I want to add books from similar series to continue to grow reader interest in nonfiction books.

This project will bring our school's readers new high interest animal battle books to enjoy while learning more about the natural world as they build their reading and critical thinking skills.

The project also includes several rolls of book tape to help us reinforce the spines of the paperback titles so they'll last through many readings.

Having these high interest books available to our school's readers will not only build our media center's collection, but also show students that their voices are heard and honored when making decisions about the books on media center shelves. Thank you for helping us to grow readers!
