This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I serve students from a very low-income background and in a high-poverty area in The Bronx. My students deserve the best opportunities possible. Despite the many challenges they faced, they are transitioning back to a new school year that is unknown because the pandemic is still happening. I am looking for my students to experiencing returning to a school year full of hope and new possibilities.
The more welcome they feel, the more engaged they will feel to come to school every day.
I want to have a space that is cozy and welcoming for them to enjoy. We are undergoing unprecedented times, and keeping the spirit up is one of the simple things we all can do to continue moving forward to a new time in our lives. For me, having a cozy space with the resources my students need can enhance their abilities to learn more and feel more enthusiastic about coming to school every day.
My Project
Due to Covid-19, my students were learning virtually, and for some of them, transitioning back in person has been challenging. As we continue adjusting to this school year, my students would benefit from practicing socialization skills by enjoying games that do not include any technology devices for them to be played. By donating to this project, you will help my students improve transitioning back into the school routine. Moreover, these games will support increasing their focus and social skills towards their academic achievement.
When the students play the games, these will keep their cognitive stimulation and help in reducing stress and feelings of loneliness by giving them a sense of community.
The benefits include memory, reasoning, increased attention, and concentration, which teaches problem-solving and develops confidence in students' academic success.
