My Students
We are a small rural school district in Southwest Ohio. We are housed in a building that is almost 100 years old. Some of my students are learning in the same classrooms that their parents and grandparents did, which is part of what makes our school a comfortable place for families to gather.
I teach an active and enthusiastic group of junior high students, girls and boys, who are happy to come to school and eager to use STEM in high interest problem solving.
I am also the STEM coach and I am always looking for new ways to engage my students in using STEM principles both in and out of the classroom.
My Project
We have Dromida Ominus UAV's and we need new batteries to keep us flying. Students really want to learn to fly our UAV's, but our batteries were no longer safe to store so we had to remove and discard them.
In order to continue our STEM UAV flight program we need to be able to replace the faulty batteries that we had to remove.
Students really like to learn to fly the UAV's and we want to extend this flight program into our new STEM course next year. Students would be able to learn the basics of flight and would complete STEM challenges as a team.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
