Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach high school physics and mathematics to a very diverse group of students. They elicit within me a range of feelings, but most importantly they motivate me to wake up in the morning and do the best job I can do for them. They are considerate, yet due to their youth, they are quick to judge and I find myself trying to make the best impression on them as possible. I know what I do and say makes a huge difference in the motivation they have in class.
Their malleability, their potential to learn and change, their energy, and the beauty of their youth charges in me passion to make a positive impact on their lives.
My Project
Students need batteries and breadboards to provide power to the Arudino and LED's for their 3D automated Lantern Project. Most students will program for the first time using code downloaded from Arduino.cc.
Students will learn to code, program and incorporate engineering concepts to a creative lantern of their own design.
Students will learn basic programming language to understand the Blink and Fade programs found on Arduino.cc. Students will then modify the time intervals for blinking and fading and number of pins used for their own LED's used to light up the paper lanterns that they design Students will apply engineering concepts to make a LED circuits that works on the breadboard powered by the coded arduino and batteries.
