My Students
The students in our Title I Elementary School come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our students are English Language Learners. In fact, our school has one of the largest ENL (English as a New Language) populations in the city. Students spend most of their time in school, or at after-school programs, and do not have much time for organized sports.
A wise man once said, "Today is not just another day, today is a new opportunity, another chance, a new beginning, Embrace it!"
Teaching students organized sports helps to improve their self-esteem, teamwork, and English language skills. It also provides students with an outlet to have some fun, and learn something new and exciting.
My Project
Beginning our second consecutive year, our softball team has grown and developed. With an overwhelming number of students signing up to participate, we're asking for your help to meet the growing demands of talented softball players here in Brooklyn. I am requesting 10 new gloves, a set of indoor bases, a batting tee, new softballs, plastic bats, and jerseys.
By supporting this project you'll be helping to foster a growing love for the game!
The purchase of these supplies will be used by the growing number of members on our softball team. They will be used to learn and practice their softball skills, as well as master the English language in a fun and inclusive setting.
