My Students

We are a Leader in Me Lighthouse school. Every day we are teaching our students to become better leaders. We live along the Gulf Coast of Alabama, so the environment is especially important to me, and I am trying my best to instill in my students how important it is that we take care of our surrounding environment. We have a school garden and outdoor classroom and well as many recycling initiatives. My students love getting to do so much hands on learning!

My Project

My students have decided that we need some bat houses around our outdoor classroom to help with our mosquito and insect problem, because they are tired of being attacked by mosquito's while learning. I thought this was a great idea. They also love watching the birds while down at the outdoor classroom so I thought we could put feeders on our classroom window so they can watch them while inside as well. We are also still working on putting mulch tree rings around all of our trees we have planted to help protect there roots and keep them healthy. The hammers will be used to help build the bat houses and the books about bats are to encourage reading while they are so interested in bats.
