This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their minds and keep then wanting more.
The students in my classroom come from very diverse backgrounds.
Our school is a high needs school. Many of our students are from low income families. Both the students and their families struggle with the English language. Due to the families' struggles and the school's struggle with budget cuts we are unable to provide high interest books for these students.
My Project
I am requesting high interest sports books for my students and colored bins for my students to store their new found loves. The students can relate to these books because they are of sports they take great interest in. Some of our students are aspiring athletes. These books would help them learn more about their dream sports and possible future careers. Being able to store these books in bins would ensure their books remain safe and in good condition.
It is extremely important for my students to receive these books so they can acquire the love for reading they are currently missing.
The books would help the students better their English and reading skills. It will also inspire them to reach for their goals and pursue these sports.
