Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A day in the art room is full of creativity in all forms! A diverse set of materials fill the room and engages the students in learning. We are working toward building a foundation of art materials to explore all mediums!
This school is a charter academy with an emphasis on fine arts!
The school serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade. This school is growing academically and is full of potential! The art program is an enrichment program to support creativity. Through joyful school experiences, we are forming lifelong learners and a positive school climate and culture.
My Project
In the art room, I try to give my students a well-rounded art experience by exposing them to all art mediums. Within the fiber arts, there are a variety of experiences that I want to share with my students.
My students need beads, reeds, and wood bases to create baskets!
For this project, students will examine the various origins of basketry. We will look at images and discuss the historical significance of basketry and its impact on the arts. Students will build on their prior knowledge of basic weaving and apply these skills to 3D baskets.
