BASKETBALLS NEEDED for Future Shooters and Passers

Help me give my students new basketballs for gym class and our sports teams. Our students love to play basketball. It is by far the most popular unit we teach.

My Students

Building my students' self-esteem by staying interested in physical activity is something that is important to me.

I am a physical education/health teacher as well as a coach at a Philadelphia, Pa urban Title I K-8 public school.

This school is located in a lower economic neighborhood with 95% low-income households and 100% of our students receiving free lunch.

My students also love physical activity and love to learn. We also have an interscholastic sports program. These sports get NO funding through the educational budget. NONE. Funding raising is the main way to get increased equipment needed for our schools students and athletes. In order to stay present and relevant we need to get gym materials the students will use and enjoy. In order to have fun or work independently at ion gym or at a sports practice during the school day or after school sports as well as new, fun equipment is needed for PE classes.

My Project

These new basketball will make a huge difference in our schools gym class and for our girls and boys sports teams. Having new basketballs for our gym classes and girls/boys basketball teams would make everyone happy. These basketballs will help us to teach the correct ways to dribble, shoot and pass a basketball.

Having new equipment and more balls will help us to get more students involved during class time and during practice.

This will help increase learning and skill development. Learning the correct way to shoot a basketball, teaching bounce/chest passes and dribbling are the key elements we teach to increase learning the right basketballs concepts and skills.
