One activity that my students love more than anything else is Basketball, however, we have not been able to start a unit on basketball this year because we don't have any! In our P.E. classes we promote positive social and personal responsibility and basing a basketball unit around that would be extremely beneficial to our school community. I don't have a budget for new equipment and I tend to rely on hand me downs from other schools.
My school is a K-5th grade in East New York section of Brooklyn, NY.
This is my third year in the school and most of the students come from lower class families. This project will enhance their experiences in Physical Education classes. I know they will be appreciative of the opportunities to receive and use some new equipment. Thanks so much to the people that feel our kids are deserving of their generosity. Our school thanks all the efforts of Donors Choose and the individuals who fund it.
My Project
In my physical education program I encourage positive interaction and respect for all. My students love basketball and I don't have the equipment to teach a basketball unit. In past years there has been a high level of success in changing students behavior for the better through basketball. I still incorporate character development into all of my students physical education lessons. However, basketball is their favorite sport and I wish to continue to have it as part of my curriculum. I would also like to use the basketball balls to start a club, before school, to encourage students to get to school on time. Thank you for your support of my school community!!
