My Students

I work at Hawaii's newest public charter school focused on leadership and identity development. Our school services 60% Native Hawaiian students in a fully inclusive school environment (all students with IEPs are in general education classes).

Our students are learning in a new environment - a space that encourages their curiosity, enables radical love, and encourages laughter.

We ensure that all students, especially those furthest from opportunity, receive an excellent learning environment centering on lived experiences and community assets.

My Project

This project is an opportunity to replace behavior challenges for students at our school.

Through basketball practice opportunities, we hope to use restorative approaches and sports integration to our practices to replace behavioral challenges during the school day.

We currently do not have a basketball court and this project will help to purchase a easily portable hoop that students can use to practice shooting basketballs and working together as a team.

Through this project, I hope we can spark motivation, inspiration, and collaboration amongst our students who need sports as an outlet to reflect, rejuvenate, and become better students.
