My Students

My school is located in a very low income community, 96% of our student population is eligible for free or reduced lunch. Having a sports team will allow me to have more of a common ground with my students and will also give my students an outlet to stay away from the streets.

My students are highly energetic and have been begging me to start up a sports team for our school.

Majority of my students love basketball and will play it whenever they get the chance. In our area organized basketball is a big deal and I want to give my students a chance to pursue their passion.

My Project

I am requesting 3 basketballs for my students to learn how to dribble, shoot, and pass with. I will use these balls to teach my students techniques and drills to improve there abilities. I am also requesting a dummy for other practice drills that will simulate live basketball games.

I believe that creating this basketball team will be such a difference maker in the lives of my students.

I know for a fact that this will enable me to have more of an influence in their lives and keep them from the streets. This will also be another outlet for my students to learn discipline, self-control, and diligence.
