This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 150 motivated students who want to learn about different technologies and careers in my STEM Lab. The students are wonderful and interested in school. We are currently distance learning due to COVID-19. Most students do not have laptops. We communicate mainly through phones.

My sixth, seventh, and eighth grade STEM students are eager to learn and pursue careers in STEM and learn about engineering.

For many, this is their first time being able to learn about engineering, robotics, and programs such as Illustrator. Many of the students come from a low socioeconomic background, with limited resources available. S.M.S., built-in 1965, is a Title I school in Nevada, serving 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students with 100% participation in the free breakfast and lunch program. When we return to school, I would like to provide the students with fresh school supplies to make their engineering projects successful.

My Project

I want my students to have supplies so that they can have all the materials they need to complete their daily tasks. These items may appear simple but to a student they are everything in making their day run smoother. We are requesting school supplies like glue, color pencils, markers, pencils, and tape for successful engineering projects after distance learning from COVID-19.

By helping fund this project, you will be helping my students be more successful in the classroom.

From the markers and pencils to communicate their ideas to a group or the class to the glue and tape to bring their ideas to life, the supplies are the building blocks of their future.
