Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of the students at my school fit into one, or more, of the following demographics: low income, single or no parent home, minority, English as a second language. Many do not have the resources necessary to purchase basic school supplies.
These students are capable, willing and ready to learn - they just need a little help.
My students play an active role in the learning process. They are encouraged to collaborate with and mentor each other. Lessons and project work can be accessed 24/7/365 from any internet connected device like a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
My Project
With this project we are looking to acquire the basic materials needed to make it through the school year and complete the projects we have planned.
Each of the items requested in this project will be used by the students to complete and display their work.
The Purell, Kleenex, Clorox wipes and paper towels will be used to keep a clean lab and the students healthy.
During the 1st 9 weeks of school my students write a paper about a famous person using MS Word or Google Docs. Pencils, pens, index cards, paper and sheet protectors will be used to plan, create, display the finished products.
The 2nd 9 weeks that convert that paper into a presentation using MS PowerPoint or Google Slides. Pencils, pens, index cards, paper and sheet protectors will be used to plan, create, display the finished products.
The 3rd 9 weeks they create a monthly budget using Excel or Slides and research jobs that are able to sustain the lifestyle they have picked. Pencils, pens, index cards, paper and sheet protectors will be used to plan, create, display the finished products.
During the 4th and final 9 weeks of the school year they create "how to's" using the media of their choice. These "how to's" are directed toward students who would be new to class. Pencils, pens, index cards, paper and sheet protectors will be used to plan, create, display the finished products.
