This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 34 self-contained high school students.

We reside in a Title I school, which means there is very little funding, yet we have such a high need for supplies!

My students are all amazing, unique, loving and energetic humans! They are vibrant and brave, active and creative. My students have a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ED, Down Syndrome, LD, and multiple disabilities. I have verbal students as well as nonverbal students. All of my students have difficulty with communication skills, social skills, and struggle to process sensory information.

Our class is bare and supplies are minimal. My students deserve the best, and at the very least deserve the items deemed necessary to help them self-regulate, de-stress and provide imperative sensory stimulation.

My Project

My students need basic supplies for our classroom. The students need masks, gloves and sanitizer to help protect against COVID19. The safety goggles are needed for our Science class. The headphones and earbuds will help the kids concentrate on their daily computer work, virtual Speech sessions and free time to keep volume low and other students less distracted. The ink will help us print out the kids creations which they are prototyping for their end of year projects.

These basic supplies will allow the students to have the very minimum to start out their day.

From morning meeting, Speech sessions, curriculum daily work and transition, to tasks using visual schedules, the requested supplies will support my students' learning throughout the day.
