We are the second largest school in our district that directly impacts our military community along with low income and ESE communities. We house grades PK-8 in our buildings, including the second highest population of special needs children, ESE children, and children who have a father, mother, or both parents in the military. This makes us a population that serves military families and military students. Our school directly impacts the military community it is built around. These demographics make our school a very diverse population.
Our school is also a Title I school, which means the majority of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
Some are displaced while others are homeless. To give these students the opportunities they all deserve, we must provide a quality learning environment. Being Title I, those essentials are few and far between. Our students are bright, they are resilient, and they strive to be the best they know how to be, but they also want to be more than that. It is our responsibility to make those things happen to them no matter what it takes.
My Project
School is just around the corner. We are packed to the gills again with little ones that are bright eyed and bushy tailed. My classroom is wishing for some supplies to start our school year off right. We use expo markers daily numerous times a day. The flour sack towels are great "erasers" and are much more easily cared for than regular erasers. Every child loves our colorful Flair pens for writing practice and we definitely need tape so that we can tape those amazing pieces of work and art up around our room and hallway. In order to do that art we really love using glue sticks. The kids can use them more easily and they also help develop small motor skills. Pencils and pencils boxes are a must have for making sure we don't lose those amazing supplies. Our binder clips help carry our papers around the room and keep our items nice and neat while anticipation of heading home to show our moms and dads all the magnificent learning we did!
Basic supplies make our world go around happily.
Thank you for the consideration. We appreciate you looking!
