My students want to learn but often struggle in school because they don't have the basics that they need for school. We live in a very isolated location, which means that many students don't get to leave the area. This isolation can limit their experiences if we are not careful. We are in a geographically isolated area with limited financial resources and students don't always get the opportunity to do STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities of their own choosing and don't always have the "newest" and "best."
Students want more engaging ways to learn at school because they WANT to learn!
My Project
Students need basics that will make their lives easier! They will use the Expos on dry erase boards that they use in math and especially math stations. They can learn so much more when they have the flexibility of erasing and trying again without judgment or pressure! The first aid kit and ice packs are for our building because it is the farthest from the office (and our nurse) so we often need to take care of stuff ourselves before we can get to the nurse.
These basics are invaluable to students.
The photo albums will allow them to learn their words easier. We will put the words inside of them to flip through and learn easier!
