Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students do not come from the wealthiest families. They do not have the best things. They are low-income, immigrant families, mainly from Spanish speaking countries. They work hard and care about education. We live in NY and go to an NYC public school. The try their best every day. The students all get free lunch and most of the supplies they have are the basics. Pencils, paper, book bags and the supplies needed for daily school life. I try to supply as much as I can to lift the burden of money from the families.

My Project

In order to learn, you need supplies. That is a concept we all take for granted sometimes. In the community I teach, I do not like asking for too much because of various reasons. We are asking for donations for some basic supplies to make life a little easier not only for the parents but for all in school issues that arise.

Post it chart paper will be used to make charts, have chat stations, and do small group work, with or without the teacher.

Index cards will be used to make math flash cards, vocabulary cards, and for oral presentations. The index card box will store these so they do not get ruined.

Pens and pencils will be used every day to do work.
