Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My middle school students will create portfolios throughout middle school that they eventually will bring with them on interviews that will determine their future successes. By creating articulate and precise examples of math mastery that are complete with organized and lucid work, my students will be able to document their successes in the world of math. With a consistent supply of pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, and pencil sharpeners my students could create math masterpieces that will supplement their high school applications, allowing them to stand out from the crowd. I am requesting pencils, pencil sharpeners, pens, erasers, printing paper and notepads - all of which will serve my students in the creation of their mathematics portfolios for high school application. I've added in some cleaning supplies to keep the classroom fresh and clean, and have added some giveaway prizes to support positive student interventions and supports. The school at which I work is specifically lacking in the ability to provide students with access to basic materials in a sustainable fashion.
When my students have consistent access to basic supplies their outlook will be positively affected in that they will be empowered to confidently create portfolio pieces that will display their math prowess.
With your help, my students will be able to express their unique selves in an organized fashion and show their classmates examples of their hard work and dedication.
