This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Living in poverty creates many obstacles to learning, including a lack of educational resources and an environment plagued with violence. My students have to endure these struggles on a daily basis.
In spite of these difficulties my students face every day, they are eager and motivated to learn!
Their faces light up when they are able to recognize and decode words and successfully compute math problems. They are overjoyed at their emerging reading and math skills.
My Project
These materials would be used on a daily basis. The dry erase markers would be used during small and whole group settings for mastery practice and evaluating student's proficiency with specific skills. Students would also be able to use the markers during free time. The journals would be used on a daily basis as well during independent writing and for content area writing. It will help students and their parents see their writing progression. The crayons, markers, pencils and erasers would be used throughout the day in all content areas. Glue would be used during art time and for content area projects.
Without these essential supplies, students would be at a disadvantage not having basic supplies in which to demonstrate their learning and build fluency in a variety of skills.
The students receiving these basic supplies would be overjoyed!
