Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges not only in the classroom but at home as well. Despite the their disabilities these students have inspired everyone around them daily. Despite the challenges they encounter daily, these students are creative, inspiring and amazing!
Many of them are being raised in single family homes and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
These students also have disabilities which often times prevent them from getting ahead as well. From the minute they walk in the classroom I am looking focusing on their strengths in order to help them grow. I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can give them a safe place in the classroom where they will begin to flourish. I hope that I can inspire them just half as much as they inspire me daily.
My Project
The Guillotine Trimmer will help cut class materials. Games will give them options during free choice time. Doorbells in our classroom to show them a good classroom management tool! Command hooks to hang artwork in the classroom. Fidget options to utilize in our calm down center. The cashbox will help our banker do his job a little easier in the classroom.
These basic supplies will help our classroom run smoother and get the students more access to materials and options in the classroom.
