My students need markers, colored pencils, pencils, and colored paper to be successful each day! It is not uncommon for my students to not be able to purchase what they need to express themselves in their writing and creative projects.

My Students
My middle school is made up of amazing students from Mt. Vernon, Illinois. They are diverse, both socioeconomically and academically. My 6th graders are kind, energetic, and determined to be successful! My students are avid learners and use multiple means to demonstrate their knowledge!
Our English-Language Arts class promotes learning through reading, writing, technology, and the completion of expressive projects.
Throughout the school year, we run out of necessary supplies to make our projects showcase who we are and the message we are trying to get across.
My Project
Even though we are a reading class, we focus a lot on using different parts of our brain to demonstrate our knowledge of content. One of those ways is creative projects. Throughout the school year, we run out of supplies and it is often difficult to replenish them.
Basic supplies like markers, colored pencils, pencils, and colored paper allow my students to be creative and show everyone how amazing they truly are!
We use these supplies daily, but are crucial when mind mapping, illustrating, and creating images to support our comprehension of text. Students are also encouraged to create maps, write and illustrate their own stories, and annotate required reading. All of these tasks require the use of these supplies.
