Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have run out of a few consumable items of which we use daily. We use our large post it tablets for interactive writing, vocabulary words, and charting graphs. We use permanent and flair markers to accentuate our writing after we have perfected it. We use the spoons for our cereal in the morning and for art projects. My students love the breakfast cereals that we have in our classroom and they are hooked on puzzles. These "cereal puzzles" add a twist to their love of both. The paper plates will be used for projects, painting, and our "Cut & Tell Stories" for story-telling with art.

These odds and ends of paper and markers, paper plates, puzzles and spoons will help us continue to work hard and continue to learn this year.

With Cut & Tell Stories, my students will use the paper plates to retell stories they have heard by cutting the designs in the plate. They will retell the stories to their families with visuals, thus learning how to repeat, rephrase and retell the story, and create visuals for understanding. They will be able to sequence the story with a beginning, middle and end. It is so much fun to watch them become story-tellers!
