Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Many of my students lack basic classroom supplies and learning through the pandemic has really emphasized this with students only able to use materials that they have at their home. While we were working remote, students struggled to find paper and pencils to write out math problems. They also did not have headphones to listen to our class instruction without the distractions of siblings also having their audio on for their own classes.

I want to start next year off right by having a supply kit with everything they may need to complete their school work in all of their classes.

Students need pencils to keep in their binders to use at school and at home. I want to be able to provide each student with 2 mechanical pencils. I have refillable lead for them to use in class and the other pencil they can keep for at home to complete their work. In addition, I believe in rewarding positive behavior and the students love to have snacks in class. It can be exceptionally hard to go all morning without food if they were late and missed breakfast and afternoon classes are just as hard when their tummy is rumbling from hunger.

All of these basic supplies for the classroom that our requested will help me to provide the kits to my students to be successful this school year.
