This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you started kindergarten? New crayons, new glue, new watercolors... but with the education budget in the state that it is- it's not like that anymore for students in high poverty neighborhoods.

I have the pleasure of serving twenty kindergarten students year after year in a high-needs school in California.

Despite the fact that over 90% of my students are receiving free or reduced lunch, they always come to school every day motivated to learn.

My Project

I want my classroom to be ready for my 20 bright new faces when they come to school for the first time this fall! Kindergarten requires special supplies... We need glue sticks galore so that we can glue down the letters, words, and shapes that we sort. We need watercolors so that we can experiment with mixing and saturation. We need special tops for our liquid glue so it doesn't come gushing out when we glue down buttons and shells to help us figure out math problems. We need little notebooks to keep our work organized. We need multi-cultural crayons so that we can draw ourselves in a beautiful rainbow of colors that make up our skin.

Your donation means that my students will begin Kindergarten with the resources they need to launch them into the rest of their educational career.

They will arrive at school and find a new box of crayons waiting for them- just like every student should!
