This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At the beginning of the school year, parents and students stress preparing for school: new clothes, shoes, and routines to prepare for the new year. Unfortunately, school supplies are not affordable for a lot of families, especially at our Title 1 school. This project, hopes to alleviate some of this stress as they begin the new school year. Students, who cannot afford them, will be provided spiral notebooks, highlighters and materials. All of these are required to have a successful school year. These supplies are not necessarily for one project or assignment. They are to be used by all my in need students all year long.

My students will be able to easily get the materials they need.

Many may be too embarrassed to say they cannot afford them. I try and discreetly make them available to all. Since we work in cooperative groups every day, the pouches will be used for highlighters, pencils and pens all students will be able to use in class.
